چکیده

I t is accepted that pressure relief is among the most important aspects in treating diabetic foot ulcers. Clinically, a variety of off-loading devices are used to redistribute pressure away from the area of ulceration to improve wound healing. The incorporation of pressure-relieving properties in a wound care dressing for the treatment foot ulcers is a new and interesting concept, although currently there is no dressing available that contains specific pressure-relieving qualities. We therefore aimed to investigate the efficacy of a prototype pressure-relieving dressing (PRD) designed to off-load pressure under individual plantar metatarsal head areas. To establish the pressurereducing efficacy, the PRD was investigated in patients with intact feet only.

Check the appropriate length of metatarsal pad On the reduction of Diabetic foot ulcer mechanical parameters while walking

Background: Standard prevention and treatment strategies to decrease peak plantar pressure include a total contact insert with a metatarsal pad, but no clear guidelines exist to determine optimal length of the pad with respect to the metatarsal head. The purpose of this study was to Check the appropriate length of metatarsal pad On the reduction of Diabetic foot ulcer mechanical parameters whil...

Evaluation and Optimization of Therapeutic Footwear for Neuropathic Diabetic Foot Patients Using In-Shoe Plantar Pressure Analysis

OBJECTIVE Therapeutic footwear for diabetic foot patients aims to reduce the risk of ulceration by relieving mechanical pressure on the foot. However, footwear efficacy is generally not assessed in clinical practice. The purpose of this study was to assess the value of in-shoe plantar pressure analysis to evaluate and optimize the pressure-reducing effects of diabetic therapeutic footwear. RE...

Pressure-relieving properties of various shoe inserts in older people with plantar heel pain.

Plantar heel pain is one of the most common musculoskeletal conditions affecting the foot and it is commonly experienced by older adults. Contoured foot orthoses and some heel inserts have been found to be effective for plantar heel pain, however the mechanism by which they achieve their effects is largely unknown. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of foot orthoses and heel i...
